The winner of the Artist Auditions is announced!

Beverley Haines, a mum of two, from Richmond in North Yorkshire has been declared the winner of Derwent’s recent Artist Auditions. Over the last month Derwent have been holding video auditions searching for a new artist demonstrator for their extensive range of fine art materials.

Beverley Haines, a mum of two, from Richmond in North Yorkshire has been declared the winner of Derwent’s recent Artist Auditions. Over the last month Derwent have been holding video auditions searching for a new artist demonstrator for their extensive range of fine art materials.

All the aspiring demonstrators had to do was submit a 5 minute video, via You Tube, showcasing some fast and simple drawing techniques using one of their favourite Derwent pencil ranges.

Speaking about the competition Leah Lister Marketing Manager said ‘We were very pleased with the quality of the entries. We selected Beverley as the winner because of her enthusiasm for the Derwent Inktense range and the quick & easy techniques she demonstrated in particular her method for printing using Inktense’

Beverley who graduated in 2010 with a degree in Illustration & Design, from Sunderland University, said ‘I am really excited about winning the Derwent competition; it will give me the chance to try out even more techniques. I work mostly in ink, colouring in my drawings with soft pastels, but I am enjoying the immediate effects you can get from the Derwent Inktense range. I like to draw very quickly and the water-soluble nature of Inktense allows me to do quick sketches without getting too caught up in the detail and at the same time creating fresh ink-like effects when I add water.

You will be able to see Beverley demonstrating Derwent Inktense Blocks as well as Derwent’s other ranges on Derwent / The Paper House stand PO4 at Art Materials Live at the NEC, in Birmingham, from 3rd to 6th November.
