Derwent is delighted to announce that it has improved the handling qualities and versatility of its Compressed Charcoal Blocks by changing its shape from round to square.
The new square shape is comfortable to handle and easier to grip giving the artist more control and therefore the ability to create a wider variety of strokes and density of tone. The new square shape means that one side can be reserved for broad strokes while the other edges, especially the corners, can be used for fine lines.
Speaking about the change Leah Lister Derwent Marketing Manager said ‘It was important that any change was well received so we canvassed the opinions of some of the artists who use our Charcoal Blocks – they were extremely positive about the move from round to square’.
‘The Charcoal Block is great in the new shape, you can easily get different shapes and lines with it, much easier than with the round format’ Tiffany Budd
‘The new square shape performs far better… I whole heartedly approve of the change’ David Cook
‘I definitely find the new shape much easier to handle and work with’ Tony Hogan
