Marguerite Horner’s paintings aim to investigate notions ‘Transience, Intimacy, Loss and Hope’. In 2004 Marguerite graduated with an MA in Fine Art from City & Guilds of London Art School and was presented by Sir Peter Blake with the Kidd Rapinet prize for outstanding work.
In 2011 Marguerite exhibited at the 54th Venice Biennale and again in 2019 she exhibited at the 58th Venice Biennale. In 2012 Marguerite had her first London solo Exhibition ‘The Seen and Unseen’‘ at The Pitzhanger Manor Gallery, The catalogue essay was written by Lady Marina Vaizey C.B.E. (former FT and Sunday Times Art Critic and Turner Prize Judge).
In 2017 Horner won the NOA17 MS Amlin Prize and in 2018 she won the British Women Artist Award and examples of her work were acquired by the Yale Centre for British Art, USA. As well a several solo exhibitions Marguerite has had work selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition; The Threadneedle Prize; ING Discerning Eye; The Lynn Painter Stainers exhibition; The Trinity Wharf Drawing Prize; The Derwent Art Prize; The Sunday Times Watercolour Competition, The RWS
Contemporary Watercolour Competition; and was shortlisted for the Ruskin Prize. Her paintings are in several private and museum collections in England, Ireland, USA and China.
Earlier in her career (after graduating with a B.A. in Fine Art at Sheffield Art
College) Marguerite was trained and employed by the BBC as a scenic artist for 3 years, when she left she painted freelance for 15 years to commission, working with photographers such as Adrian Flowers and David Bailey on an number of Award winning Advertising campaigns and Editorial publications, such as The Sunday Times and The World of Interiors before returning to study for her MA in Fine Art Painting at City & Guilds London School of Art.
