Beverley Haines

Beverley Haines is an Artist/Illustrator living in Richmond North Yorkshire. She graduated from the University of Sunderland in 2010 with a BA Honours in Illustration and Design having decided to follow a dream to develop an artistic career later in life. Since graduation Beverley has been commissioned to illustrate children’s books and she continues to develop her design and illustration techniques primarily using loose pen and ink drawing combined with use of soft pastels and watercolour.

In November 2010 Beverley won a video competition to demonstrate Derwent’s Inktense range of products at ‘The Arts Show Live’ in Birmingham. This led her to develop a printing technique using the inktense range which she now uses extensively in her illustrations to build texture and interest. She has a particular love for drawing animals and natural scenes.

Beverley currently works part time as therapist whilst continuing to pursue commissions for illustration work as well as taking time out to paint in oils. She writes a wellbeing blog combining her interest in mental health with her love of sketching. In this she draws three things a day that she feels grateful for.

Her work can be viewed on www.beverleyhaines.co.uk.
